I'm on a Connecticut kick at the moment. Lots of times the New England razors didn't stray too far from home and I find them at the antiques stores and flea markets, etc.

It's not hoarding It's just a slight acquisition disorder What about getting a "Connecticut Club" going? Might make for a cool little club thread.

Devil's spit, right? I picked this Fili DT14 up at an antique shop around late August last year.
Brought it home, took pics and returned it to it's box. I was waiting to improve my skills
before doing anything to it. I don't know why, but I took it out to look at it today. Kinda
glad I did. I noticed a black spot and then another. I put it under the microscope and took
some pics. There are 168 threads including the key words "Devil's Spit" in the Shaving
Equipment > Razors forum alone. I found a post by outback (circa 2012) saying to cover
the blade etch with scotch tape (which I've done) and to use Flitz or MAAS on the rust.
I've been using Brasso (what I have on hand).
Any advice other than what I'm already doing?

Looks like most of the active rust has been removed Rog. I like to remove rust with a little oil and steel wool. You've got to work it on a hone now until the edge is all clean steel. It's okay if there's still some pitting on the bevel, as long as the edge is clean. You've got plenty of width on that blade so it shouldn't be a problem.

Thanked: 4826Well in my opinion, if you go slow and use great razors and tape the spine, it will be just fine. Do you have hones? I think there is probably a guy or two around here that would help you out with that little bit of honing. I was hoping for a full razor picture.
