Multiple coats of red could also help it. Wipe it off with something that's not very absorbent. News paper works well. Rags and paper towels tend to take paint out of the letters.

    Looks great!
The way I paint stamps, I have to take a q-tip and clean-out the recesses. The pointy ones and some rubbing alcohol works good. Let it dry well.
I use a Sharpie oil-based paint pen. You can push the paint in.
Let it dry. DE razor blade (new) almost flat to get the paint off the top. Repeat as-necessary.
Don't oil for a while. This has worked best for me. JME.

Thanks, guys Thanks for the tips about the paint, I feel like I might be able to improve it a little now. Going to hit it with the paint again tomorrow I think.

Yeah, Mike, the scales should be there soon I should think but there is no rush to send them back. Whenever you have the time, all is good.

Clean it all out and begin over if you're going to do it?

It's sticking, I cleaned it a bunch with denatured alcohol first and let it dry really well. Some of the stamp is not very deep and other parts are deep. It looks redder in person than in the pictures but tomorrow I'll try to fill up any letters that aren't filled up already. I didn't take a before-the-paint picture though, too excited to get working no time for pictures.
