After 2 beers, I leave them alone.
I do suspect the top will be all that is used. I have an old Sioux jitterbug air-sander with worn, heavy stuff on it. Puts a smooth surface on my hammer head and anvil. Then, I trundle them off to the buffer. Slick as can-be. Maintaining this anvil should go the same, I think."Don't be stubborn. You are missing out."
I rest my case.

Well Shaun, I cut a piece of the bone in two so I will have a set. I then make them flat enough on both sides because the bone slabs come curved. One sid will start thick while the other side is thin. He only does this on the bone, I don't know why but it doesn't pose any problems. It's the same bone I used for the W&B Steamship blade I have.
I cut out a pattern, flatten them. The time I tried something new & I flattened the insides on a DMT. I then used carpet tape to stick them together & ground out my pattern a little better on the belt sander. Once I got them flat enough, I drilled my pin holes. Then on the third hole, I used the old scale as a pattern to drill the hole so it would be just in the right place. I then sanded on the belt sander from end to end, more on the sides but worked them pretty thin & even. I then started at 240 grit & worked my way up to 3000 grit. Can't forget the wedge. I made a primary wedge before putting the two pieces together & finished it up later before sanding. The original sales had a 3/32" pin with the ends turned down on a lathe to 1/16" & peened on. I used a piece of 3/32" tubing & the 1/16" pinning material worked perfect in it. This is the first for bone.
I made one set in the past but these came out better & the next will be even better. I love 3 pin scales on razors but I love the old Sheffield's & other's that are just 2 pin as well.

As to a teensy bit of plastic tube, stiff. Old ballpoint retractable pens yield good pieces. Look at the whole apparatus. Anything black or white will go with anything. Shoving a drill bit through is not so hard. Chopping off with a Dremel wheel and dressing on a sander/grinder goes easy. Parts can be had from most anything usually tossed into the bin. JMO

Thanked: 4206Old pen tube's a great idea, thanks again Tom!
I caught a bug, felt like crap so took the day to wallow in full on man cold misery.
But did clean up the below;
All received in old tarnished condition, but cleaned up well.
They all went king 1k for bevel, to norton 4/8k, to belgian blue, to coti, to jnat to .25diamond on suede block. Popping leg hairs with ease.
Quite pleased with the lot."Depression is just anger,, without the enthusiasm."

Thanked: 237Hey that's the same razor I'm building those gaboon ebony scales for. I used acetone to remove the little henckels guy from the junked scales, but have no clue how to attach it to the new ones. The scales are curved and the bolster is flat-ish. I'll worry about that once I get the blade to fit in the scales...

Bought a couple of true kamisori's but can't get an edge on em.
