So my next project will be this Little RanTanKarus smiler. Had one of these a long time ago and let me tell you, they shave like big razors! If you ever find one, get it! Found some ivory perfect for it.

In looking at the bottom of the pivot hole, I see potential for trouble.

So I will unpin all, oversize all the holes, CA some brass spacers to the ivory, and size some of Babur's collars to each hole. Tight and sturdy!

I have shown this procedure before, so If anyone wants me to go through it in photos, let me know.

Yeah i got it now. Chest is on fire, coughing, nose dripping.
    Its definitely fall in Ohio.

    DAMMIT!!

Still givin the FON that Bill sent me a test run tnite. Needs a few strokes on the 8 and 12K, a few on CR/OX , Then to leather.
Its sharp now, but under magnification it just needs a little touch-up. No chips or anything, scratch marks are ... Well kinda off, probably just me. And after the story my wife told me, I now understand why the razor was out of the box, and wrapping, when I opened the box.
The GD mailman threw it up on the front porch, and it hit the door.
Thats 6' of porch to the door.

Good thing I wasn't here, or he would have seen what going postal really looks like.

Well, the blade is not so butchered, but the scales? Yeah......Butchered! Does it qualify?

Yeah Boss, we'll let ya qualify!
Tom, not trying to brag or I'll jinx myself but I actually didn't have the bad stomach ache like I have the last 2 weeks so I "HOPE" it's finally going away! Thanks for your concern my friend.

About the Ivory scales, I have been looking at my Crandall Cutlery blade & I have a razor that is a W&B swayback but someone honed the blade flat & w/o a smile. It just doesn't look right in the Ivory scales it's dressed in so I think I'm going to put an American made blade in the ivory. The Crandall Cutery was only made for 5 years so I think it will be the bomb but I am going to be very careful. It will be my first time working with Ivory.

Oh yeah, @ outback Mike, get well soon brother. I hope it doesn't have you down as long as I have been!

Bill, you are such a 'giving' sort!

Anything from Bill shall include a bit of his headaches!

    Outback will sort it!

Nothing against you. I could have easily shaved with it the way it was.
But i could see scratch marks running parallel with the edge, within the bevel.
    Probably the post man.
Seriously.... The razor (s) was out of the wood box, and the paper too.
Like someone shook it like a Christmas gift. I am soooooo pleased with the gifts, wasnt expecting anything as that. Wow!!!

Just a little touch on the 12 was all that was needed, then a quick stropping.
About to give it a go here in a few minutes.

    I'll post it in SOTD

    Tom, that red devil qualifies.
Only carved scales I ever made were for mine and you are right, great shaver!! T'was one of my first acquisitions. Had no idea it was such a good little blade.

Bill, I wonder if there is a difference between FON and FeON in Japan? Looked closer at the ones I have and they are the latter spelling. Seem to be nice steel though. Not as prety as that one, but still good steel.
Anyone know the diff? Steve, oh man of the tomes??

Matheus, watched those turtle vid's and do you think that was just boiling water and hot stones used in that laminating process? Fascinating three part series. Thanks for sharing those.
My only question now is where can I get some turtle backs to try?>>??
    Salute..

Mike? Was it you who made the devil-tailed scales? Right before MikeT made those Jetson's scales?
