Jk, love his work, and a very grandfatherly looking craftsman to boot.

Got the scales down to 3 mm, or .11" thick and I am satisfied at this profile.

No finish or sealant applied yet, just a lot of hand sanding with 1000 grit and up.
Think brass on brass is the right choice for this colour definitely.
Make the wedge tomorrow and maybe get it pinned up.

B52, if that is honey horn, you shouldn't need to seal 'em, at least I have never sealed any of mine. They look fantastic the way they are.

I have been thinking of my dad. Today was what would have been his 95th birthday...........

I'd use renwax or neetsfoot on them by way of finish after its all back together..
And yes, it's honey horn.

Nothing wrong with Renwax or Neatsfoot oil on 'em. I just have never used any on new scales but maybe I should try some...........

They look awesome, especially how they're almost translucent. So SHINY! You may have mentioned this before, but what material for the wedge? Brass as well? My tortoise shells usually have a white wedge, starting to look around for a decent, locally available and workable clear plastic.

Most of the name brand hardware stores carry clear acrylic sheets.
Home Depot sells colored sheets, via online. FYI

Thanks DM. It's been an evolving skill set.
This time I'm going with a brass wedge and pin combo, but I have used wood, coins, acrylic, and amber for wedge material on previous builds.
The amber paired with this translucent honey turned out very well but was a rather soft delicate material to work with.

When I compare scales I make now, to ones I made three years ago, my originals look crude and clunky in comparison. Probably going to remake some of my first now that I almost know what I am doing.

I've seen the work you have posted so far, it's great to see all the experimentation you guys go through. I will be stealing as many tricks as I can once I start fiddling with my razors.
