My mom used to buy my shoes too big, made me stuff paper in the toes, so I could get 2 years out of them.

On the serious side..if possible?
Try going through life with the stigma of Schizoid! Used to be what they called us Asperger's personnel! no one had a term so that was the catch-all for what they didn't know til the last 20 years or less.
I only really was diagnosed about three years ago.. Whee, now I understand! I am inside my-selfs with joy!

Don't get me started! The problem is that all of those diagnosed conditions are catch-alls. We lump together folks with greatly varying degrees of "affliction". There are also things that we differentiate which are more likely simply different degrees of "affliction". Where does sociopathy end and psychopathy begin, for example? (A psych proffessor of mine said the difference was whether or not you have a human head in the refrigerator.) Also, there are many conditions that go undiagnosed such as as mild forms of dyslexia which, although good for jokes that are lots of fnu, cause real difficulties in life. There are also many "high functioning" individuals, as you are obviously yourselfs, who go through life relatively "normally". What is "normal" anyway? Then there are diagnoses such as ADHD which are used as excuses to drug children, not to treat them but for the convenience of the State. Whew, I've better get off the soapbox and calm down before I am diagnosed with something and carted away!
Incidentally, the gag that we rely upon in our schizophrenia jokes, that it means multiple personalities, has no basis in fact. Multiple Personality Disorder (now called Dissociative Identity Disorder - pyschiatrists/psychologists like to redefine/rename things from time to time; it makes them feel like real scientists I guess) is not associated with schizoprhenia although the two often have common antecedents such as trauma. Oops, I guess you would know that, duh!

Yup, when I laughed at the original Quip this morning and told my wife, who is a psychiatric nurse (damn, now you will all know where she got me from), I was treated to an informative lecture that Schizophrenia has nothing to do with multiple personalities, is a myth, and quoted me something from the DSM.
She then scolded me for chewing through my leather straps again and fed me a proper breakfast.
Tack I believe nailed it...
Cheers!
