Was down in GA over the weekend and stopped at a "tobacco shop" (more hookas, cigarette tobacco and questionable goods than pipe stuff) I got a tin of Sam Gawith Navy Flake and 1792 Flake. Had to take the first tin of NF back and exchange it. It had been opened (who knows when) and it was like busted up gravel inside. The 1793 was pliable and moist. The NF was crumbling into dust. They swapped it out for me. I look forward to burning both of these. I also stopped at a mall "tobacco shop" and got a mini basket briar there. Neat little bent stem number with "Dinky" etched on the side. Not sure if these are Italian made or not. Nice little pipe and for 18.99 it was affordable. It will be my new "flake pipe".

I have scored some really decent pipes out of the baskets. A little cleaning and polishing and they generally look great and smoke quite well.

Been just smoking Old Joe Krantz and Haunted Bookshop for the last week and enjoying them both in various Castello's.

I was stuck in slow traffic today and noticed that the guy in front of me was smoking a pipe. It was more stop than go at that point. Hmmm, that must be a Falcon because of the reflection of the shank. Some Yahoo then roared around us on the shoulder to gain about 3 car lengths. Some peoples children was my thought but it ticked that guy off and for about 3 minutes he was honking and giving him the middle finger.

Dang! He is going to give pipe smokers a bad name!
