Dieseld take a quarter trace it on the heel to get the shape and use a diamond hone or file to 're shape the heel. I believe Tom had me do that on my fbu and it worked great. Maybe a nickel depends on how wide of a blade.

Thanked: 4207Yes, I thought it being horn was a given, missed where wood was mentioned.
Ca will bond the horn crack. And by sanding it all back off the surface when done, it will not be over shiny but be strong."Depression is just anger,, without the enthusiasm."

Unpin it, use thin CA, glue the crack, and clamp it back together. Find something that works for clamping, before you glue it. ( A test run per say ). Then make any other repairs needed ( chips, bug bites, ect.). Then soak them in pure neats foot oil. For those...better part of a week , probably longer.
I put oil in a zip lock bag ( just enough to cover) and place them in a tackle tray to contain the mess.
In the summer, I'd place it in the window sill, and let the sun warm the oil.
This time of year, I put it on top of the furnace.

Thanked: 3215File and center punch as said, but drill with a center drill, they are not that expensive. And raise the work up on a bock of wood so you can see the better.
Or better yet, File and center punch, and with a Dremel and a flex shaft use a dentist ball burr, (eBay) to make a hole in the center, then just eat away at the pin. A magnified visor makes this a whole lot easier, $5 at Harbor Freight with, 3 lenses, super buy. I don’t use the lights, batteries weigh too much.
Lift the scale off the pin, as said.
When you re-pin make sure the hole is larger than the pin and tapered, to give the pin some room to expand.
Or epoxy a brass tube, Hobby store or Ace Hardware) the size of the pin and as thick as the scale to re-enforce the pin hole. File to the scale thickness, it will not be seen under the collar. Tape the tube to a board and cut with a Dremel, with a piece of rod inside the tube for support.
Get reproduction Sheffield collars from AJ on eBay, quality stuff. (Ajkenne4xm3)

Thanked: 4207I have one of those visors, with different lenses for different magnification. Better hair though, haha.
Work terrific for detail work with my old-ish eyes.
