Never heard of finishing horn with CA unless you were filling in some bug bites. Neatfoot oil bath for a few days brings them back to life.

In the spots on the second picture, those were chips in the scales. Hence the use of CA to fill them in.
Mike sent me some bog oak to sand and make the CA black to match
Thank you for your input Martin, I respect you and you sir are a plethora of information

My recent Johnson cast steel razor acquisition.
I am going to go pretty minimalist for the finish on this one.
It did have some issues to correct.

This is after a light scrape with a razor blade, some elbow grease and steel wool.

I took the chips out of the edge with some elevated spine strokes on a 1200 diamond plate.
Next it is off to the vibrating tumbler for probably three days with some walnut shell. After that it will be given a patina and slipped into a new set of scales, perhaps in dark horn or maybe bone, those decisions have not yet been made. I have a lot of project on the go but this one I am kind of excited about so it got moved to the front of the line.
