IMO, want the lowest point mid blade and the smile to curl up equally fore and aft.

I think if you measure the width at the heel & are going by that, a nice way would be to follow the geometry of the blade by keeping the width as close as possible all the way to the toe as well. I'm just saying that looking at the drawing but that's just another option & not an opinion because I do own some old Sheffields that are wider at the toe, usually the wedge or near wedge ones.
At first I thought these looked good together but I forgot one (trop) of them has an acid etching of a building on it. It's old & worn almost completely away. They would be good candidates for a quick refinishing on the blades but for now it says as is. If I decide to do that later I will, they made so many of 'em......................ummmm but I'm not knockin' either. Those old W&B wedges are some great shavers!!!!
B52 also made a good suggestion.Last edited by engine46; 10-27-2015 at 06:23 PM.

Wider at the toe is fine. Just wanted to see if there is a frown up there or not. Just work on the heel more to reestablish the bevel. A bit off the heel, a bit off the toe will get you there without having to take much off of either. If it is really flat doing it with one or the other might take removing a lot instead of 'sharing' it between the two? Mike's pic may even be a little extreme?
No stabilizer so that makes it much easier!Last edited by sharptonn; 10-27-2015 at 06:34 PM.

Thanked: 4206The pic is a quick paint gallery edit while still at work, and not the ideal curve for sure, just a 'zample of the idea.
Actually, it looks a lot like the FBU that started this thread did before the restore. Similar rulers edge. Go back to page 1 and around pg 10 to see it, and the pair Tom was doing first. Great examples of the original condition of that bad boy..

Thanked: 4206My next razor fixer upper. A John Heiffor from Sheffield. Don't know anything about the maker but feels like a good grind. Will end up at 5/8 if I straighten out the toe heel taper.
Will take it apart as it's very tight in the scales. Scales themselves, while nothing special, are undamaged beyond staining so worth cleaning up a skosh and decide then.
Cheers!Last edited by MikeB52; 10-27-2015 at 10:17 PM.
