Here is a little progress on the GD makeover. I straightened the spine of the razor and also so ok the slight smile out of the edge. Now the edge and bevel are parallel and straight. The spine is also straight and close to parallel as well. Next will probably be some hand sanding to feather the grind I made at the heal of the razor into the tang.

I have also thought about some handle ideas. I think I am leaning towards the middle design. I.left the bottom blank incase any of you guys have some good ideas on the handle shape.

I think 2 looks good - I assume you will taper in both the top/bottom and front/back planes?

I like the #1. It appears to allow the use of the kami from any angle as does the wa kamisori. I often use my kami so the ability to change hands and grips constantly is a very good feature.
    Lookin' good!

Oh yes, brake cleaner spray will remove the GD silk screen from the blade and de-grease the tang before gluing.

    #2 looks good.
Seems it would keep from rolling in hand.

Coming home men. Looking forward to a nice shower and shave. Should be in the shop tomorrow for a" little" razzer work . just a little though, maybe work on the scales, something light not too demanding, just can't stand being idle ( had enough of that while in the hospital)
Arms are a bit sore from the I Vs they had in both arms, and blood pressure band that would check my pressure every half hour automatically, wich in turn bruised my left arm pretty good.
Here's a before and after pic of my heart.

Well, though I have little experience with kamis, from what I know it seems that no.1 would be a better design.
Also, though it should mean less IMO, aesthetically no.1 I think looks better.
Functionally speaking, I could be way off.

Glad your gonna be back in a comfortable environment!
A bit of light work to stay active without pushing it too much sounds like a great idea (though I'm no doctor), it could be good for your state of mind... important I think.
