Wondrous indeed!
Only a couple comments here:
Nail polish or enamel can be used as a mask to get a sharp dividing between the plating wanted and not wanted areas. It also works well to mask around the originally plated blade etches to allow a workman like re-plating of those areas.
Referring to the Dome washer comments, above: The original stamped domed 'appearance' washers were pinned over a thin iron flat washer. I believe the idea was to allow the outside edge of the dome to agreeably adjust to the natural curve of the scale cross section; that, while giving a very firm pinning with pressure directly around the pin diameter. Now days, I find that I can use a larger ID flat washer of minimal OD to do the same effect. That is why the solid stacked washers type 'appearance' washers are not fitting as well as the originals.
YMMV

Thanked: 4827Nice write up. I understand now, however I am not about to start plating, I think one razor nut in Canada plating is enough for both of our projects.

My next project..
These 6/8th near wedges feel magical when shaving with.
So I'm looking forward to this one. It needs a lot of sanding and there is an eroded part on the shoulder , like a dent.
What is strange to me about this one is that the spine tapers inwards . Never seen that before and I'm curious to see if that effects the honing..

Thanked: 4206Thanks Mike. If I had to guess, I would have gone with silver/silver. But way better to know for sure. That one at the bolster is hard to judge when tarnished still,
