Heck yeah, I've got some nice ones I could swap too.
Was looking at the place i get my brass from, not thick enough for wedge, maybe for thinner blade but not a thick wedge unless i want the blade to ride high..
The knot I put in that brush was $21. I was looking online and found cheaper but some people were saying low quality... hairs fall out. Saw on the bay some good deals IF the quality is good, but some reviews said poor...
I like scritch for after a week of growing out beard, otherwise something real soft. I'll be making more Liberace (LMAO) brushes and gonna use what I've got on hand and then want to try out some big 29-30mm knots.
Was thinking about making one for Cool Hand Luke, but for that need a short brass candle holder with a big 30mm knot! Hehehe“You must unlearn what you have learned.”

Thanked: 4206Leatherstockiings , welcome to the beater revival thread. Nice blade to save. Frederick Reynolds has become one of my favorite mfgr's from Sheffield old. Great hard steel and holds an edge longer than many razors half their age. Once they are honed that is. That's an equally hard challenge. Love the thumb notch on yours.
I too would drop down to around 200 to get to the root of the pits, or till the point you are happy with and move up from there. Switching directions each grit really helps after the initial work as well. ie toe to heel with 320, then spine to edge with 400, toe heel with 600, spine edge with 800 etc. With the 200 any which way required to get the results you need being mindful of your tang marks, edge definition and any other unique points worth saving.
I haven't touched a razor all day ;(.
Had the whole fam-damly over for a ribfest. Just got the place emptied out actually. A good night, good food, and good company.
Now back to work. Almost wrapped up a travel strop I've been working on, and had to rework a little, and hopefully on to my next beat up WB I posted about a few, well many pages back now.
Mike those scales are looking nice as they progress. Tom likes em skinny, but then again so do I these days. my first set of one piece in tulip wood will actually be going back to the bench to be thinned out significantly. A year later and they look ungainly to me now.
That shorty is going to be stylin when completed. I look forward to hearing how it performs.

That's looking great! What I've been looking for in broken blades is cheep, very little hone wear, and broken in an okay spot.. plus little to no pitting.
This one will be a good one!
I've got a couple that have heel cracks, and will be fixing them soon. Has the benefit of reach, along with the agility of a short blade. Just need to make sure they are not too hollow so as not to be wobbly without a stabilizer..
The big Henry Sears FBU 8/8 I'm working on has a heel crack, surprising because it's thick. I'll get pics up soon.
Goodnight Mike, have fun fishing!

Yesterday I put edges on my first 2 W&B restorations.
The first one which is around a 1/2 hollow, I need to make scales for it . Honed it up and tested it today. It needs more work on the 5/10k stones.
The second, a full hollow, wow , I had an amazing shave with it. I'm not a big fan of full hollows but this was dialled in , the Maruka Gods smiled on me.
One handed fools pass with no stuttering and I have quite dense facial hair.
The scales are Ebony. They are Dovo replacement scales for a 5/8th I have but that can wait.
I took the brass wedge from another set of scales because black n gold goes well together. The wedge didn't quit fit but its close enough for the time being.
The problems I had was with the pinning. The mock up version worked but when I put it together for real, the toe just caught the wedge. So i sanded the wedge down.
Then finally the blade which is not straight was catching a scale. I had to use one washer to even it up a bit but even then i couldn't tighten the scales to how I'd like. They are not loose but not tight tight.
Honing from scratch was easier than I expected . After a couple of mins you can see exactly what's going on. Rolling X city.
Full Hollow
