Thanked: 983After reading through your tirade in post #237, I'm inclined to disagree with 50% of your claim in post #239. The part I do agree with is that Steph (nightblade) is an intelligent adult. I think you have much more growing up to do. I speak as someone who has much the same experience as you listed yourself as having. Frankly, without proof, I just don't believe you.
We, too, may have to agree to disagree. And this is going off the subject so I won't enter into this discussion further.
The facts remain that a deranged man has planned and spent some time buying and building equipment to cause mass destruction. Something that could happen in your country just as easily as America. The fact that you are focussed on the gun element and not the fact that there was a very large bomb setup involved, tells me you have the mentality that your queen and country want you to have. The one that thinks inanimate objects are out to murder people. People murder people! Hell the english have been doing it for centurys. They certainly didn't always use guns and bombs performing these atrocitys. However lets look at something a little closer to our own time to help put it in perspective for you: Derrick Bird, killed 12 injured 11, used a firearm. Location Cumbria, year 2010. Michael Robert Ryan, killed 16, injured 15. Two semi automatic rifles and pistol. Hungerford, 1987. What was the response to this case? Look into public mental health issues? No! Tighten up gun laws. That'll fix it! Did it help? No. Refer to Derrick Bird for the evidence of that. Speaking of which, the response to Birds shooting? BBC postponed showing "Coronation Street" until the next day. That must have had the country in an uproar hey?!
And here I was thinking the UK had strict firearms laws, keeping it's citizens safe from that kind of thing.

Just goes to show you Wiki... can be wrong too!! It goes something like this:
Single shot
Semi-Auto
Full Auto operation
As a patriotic American, I can say that the only restriction that should be placed upon Firearm ownership is to those groups that for obvious reasons should not own a Gun, convicted felons, People of dimished capacity and so on.
I own, most everyone I know owns, and most that I know who own, also have carry permits.
None of us has yet to walk into a crowded theater and lay waste to the patronage.
IMHO, that is, YMMV

Just to clarify farther DON'T get caught in the Media and Political trap, there is a plan to their "stupidity" if you blur the line between actions you can sweep more guns into an Anti-Gun Bill
The same thing happened with the original "Assault Weapon Ban" as first written almost any weapon except Muzzle Loaders and Single Shots was actually an "Assualt Weapon"
Most Non Shooters have no concept of all the types of actions there are

Too late.. Look at this nonsense Canadian Youth Shooters Told, Stay Away From Ontario Summer Games Honours
TORONTO, Canada - -(Ammoland.com)- Two award-winning teenaged sport shooters have been kicked off the stage and can’t stand beside their athletic peers during the Ontario Summer Games in August.
Organizers say the Games’ specially-appointed Sporting Rifle ambassadors must not not appear during the World Record Camp Games ceremony due to the recent (unrelated) high-profile gun crimes committed in the Toronto area.

Thanked: 13245My latest clue to the stupidity of politicians was not when the Typical Anti_gun crowd jumped into the media less than 6 hours after the shootings, with their "Grab the Guns" rhetoric but when I heard some brilliant politician call for a stop to allowing Costumes to be worn at the Movies...
Next step is the formulation of the MSA set up much like the oh so effective TSA to enter the Theater you must remove your shoes and all metal objects and please step through this full body scanner, and please enjoy the movie
The true irony is these are the same people that scream at the top of their lungs for Freedom of Speech and Civil RightsLast edited by gssixgun; 07-23-2012 at 03:03 PM.

Thanked: 13245Just to clarify some other pervious posts which Irk me
"It is very easy to convert an AR-15 to full auto" This is the weapon in question BTW
You have five choices for full auto AR15/M16:
A registered transferable:
(1) A Registered receiver(RR),
(2) A registered lighting link (LL),
(3) A registered drop in auto sear (RDIAS).
they range from around 8k for a LL, 9-12k for a shooter RR, 12-15k for a RDIAS, 16k+ for a Colt A2 RR or other such collectible RR.
(4) Get a Class 3 plus other expenses; then get a post dealer sample, this requires a letter from a gov agency.
(5) Go to Jail.
(6) Buy one on the street from your local drug gang, of course you might just get dead trying that
This is easily found as GIYF even if you are not a shooter...
ps: even with all this you now have a bastardized weapon, and unless a good smith builds it it will probably jam every 3 rounds anyway
pps: In case the "sixgun" part of my screen name didn't give it away, Yes I am a shooter and responsible gunowner that believes if you own a weapon, if it ain't on you it better be in a good gun safe... I even believe that you should have to have a "Shooters card" that like a drivers license needs to be renewed every "5" or so years... Most CCW's are set up like that so perhaps they could be combinedLast edited by gssixgun; 07-23-2012 at 03:27 PM.

Hmmm, 240 or so posts and what do we see. Some like guns, some don't. Some blame society for everything, Some blame individuals for everything, some think guns kill people, some think people kill people.
I've said this before and I'll say it again. Humans are a violent species and have no problems killing each other for the most trivial of reasons. That's why we have had such a rigid society through history to control such things. As society breaks down (for many reasons) these controls become lifted.
These types of incidents will only become more frequent since society itself continues to deteriorate and every nut case will try to out do the previous one.
I suspect at some point in the future a group will arm themselves to the hilt and take out hundreds somewhere and when that happens you will see weapons severely restricted. That just seems to be how it always goes.No matter how many men you kill you can't kill your successor-Emperor Nero

Thanked: 56I am quite happy that you pointed out all of the gun crime cases in the UK ... I think the character limit would kick in if you did the same for the countries where civilians are allowed to carry weapons. You don't have to believe me, and I don't really care whether you do or not because my character doesn't change that my facts are correct. In general when a debator starts questioning anothers integrity they know they are wrong. I didn't have a "tirade", I wasn't angry nor criticizing anyone/anything. I merely pointed out the facts.
The BBC don't show Coronation street that is ITV. Derrick Bird was licensed to carry weapons, as was Robert Ryan (Hungerford), note that these are the only examples of such a thing happening in a very long time. Proving my point that when people have access to ballistic weapons ... killing many people is much easier.
I don't appreciate personal slurs in a debate between equals.
