Thanked: 4827It was good practise Tom. I am very happy you sent them. They are not perfect, but they will soon be back to being functional razors. Now that I am doing the hand sanding, and seeing the things I could have done better makes the learning process continue. At this point I think I should do some bevel setting to make sure my grind is still straight.

Thanked: 315They look nice. Were they all originally wedges, or some made more hollow?
Did the John Barber box say
"Made by Barbers, for barbers?"

Thanked: 4827They were and are all wedges. I would hate to try to regrind anything that was already thinner than a half hollow. There was a thread a long time ago where someone ground just the hone wear from near the spine on a full hollow. It had begun its life likely near 8/8 but with ham fisted honing made it to 7/8, and it looked great.

Were you able to grind past that enormous pit on the Barber, Shaun?

Thanked: 4827There is still some minor sign of it on the back.
Those little holes are quite deep. It's not what you know, it's who you take fishing!

Thanked: 315I would probably have been more comfortable practicing on a railroad spike.
Look forward to seeing the finished product and a cross section of the grinds.

Well, congrads on the work you did shaun. Id think a 3" wide belt would be the perfect size for regrinding. No back and forth movement. But i wasnt there and three inch was probably not an option. I know you will make them shave once again.
It's just Sharpening, right?

I would expect 2 inches is the widest for grinding razors, Jerry.
Watch some videos on how it's accomplished. Razors have smiles and such cannot be accomplished by flat-grinding. The spine/blade profile must be followed as-grinding I expect.
