Yes I did! Go figure. But I appreciate your thoughts! I would never say to you that you are full of it!!! You are always welcome to enlighten me on things. Just so you know, I'm considered to be in South Texas. I'm about 60 south of Austin and about 350 miles north of the mexico border.

That case turned out super John. Beauty details and the pieces all look right together.
Well done men.
Me, just getting in from my moms 80th birthday dinner GTG in Burlington.
Was a Greek dinner, ended with ouzo shots to toast the matriarch of the clan.
The first woman I ever loved, still beautiful..my dad was a lucky man.

Thanked: 2284Well...... I tried something I've never tried before last night, and I think it went really, really well.
After spending a bit of time trying to get a bevel set on this H.G. Long & Co. razor, I realised that the damage that was done by the previous owner was too extreme to get past. Whoever owned this razor last, did some honing with the spine raised up. So while I was trying to set the bevel, I noticed that in order to bring the bevel down to the edge, I would have to remove a lot of steel and my bevel would end up being very, very large. This was using 4 layers of tape.
You can see my DMT scratches and the old bevel below it.
So I decided to try my hand at a regrind. At work we have a sharpening machine that sits in the corner and collects dust, and I've always looked at it and thought, bet that would work really well for regrinding old wedges. Here it is.
It has a 9" wheel, that's 2" wide and is water cooled. Perfect for wedge regrinding, but!!! Very, very slow! Which I think is good because then I can really watch what's going on and not let things get away on me too quickly. Here are my results.
Initial 15 mins.
After a half hour.
The final result. After about 2 hours and 2 oz. of Laphroiag Quarter Cask. Really happy with the results. Now to do the other side.

Thanked: 2284I'd do it for you Mike. It was kinda fun, but my back was pretty sore when I finished. Need to raise it up higher so it's at nipple height. Problem is, we still use this for the little grinder at work so I have to take it back tomorrow.
Not sure if I trust myself quite yet on someone elses razor though. I'd hate to screw something up...... I need more practice. That being said, this is ALWAYS a last resort move.Burls, Girls, and all things that Swirl....

Oh..! its on its last resort.
Almost ready for wind chime duty. I got a descent size wheel, and plenty of greaseless 220, just haven't built my magnetic blade holder yet.Mike
