I love that flick, but my wife hates it, says it's scary and won't watch it again. Can I come over? I'll bring popcorn

Even though it's not really recommended (and at my own risk) I sanded the leather to get to a decent surface. I sanded all the way up to 2000 grit, then rubbed and rubbed with a slightly damp cloth then added a drop of neetsfoot oil and rubbed a bunch more. I'm confident there are no stray bits of sand in the leather and it looks to be a great surface now. I'll try stropping and do a bunch of checks of the edge under magnification to be sure all is well. I used linen fire hose and sealed the ends and the hole with CA.
Looks good from here heck of a job tuzi!

"No Country for Old Men" is one incredible film, Hirlau. Enjoy! (My life without the Coen brothers and Quentin Tarantino would be sorely lacking. Recently read that a Scientologist nut advised Travolta not to take his career-resurrecting "Pulp Fiction" role. Some stellar advice, eh?)

Speaking of strops....For some dumb reason I have absconded with 24 old NOS Boar hide strops from Tripoli Barber supply in Philadelphia. I have a vintage pigskin strop and love the way it strops...
Old cellulose coverings just crumbled away.

Of course it is old and dry, but this stuff won't crack and split like cowhide or horsehide.
Processing them 2 at a time. Damp cloth rub, Bick leather cleaner, heavy. Then Bick conditioner.
After Damp cloth and drying,Bick cleaner, 3 shots of Bick leather conditioner, both sides. They are turning up nice.
On the right to left. Wiped-down with damp cloth, finished, next 2 are cleaned and awaiting the conditioner tomorrow.
    LOTS of hand-rubbing involved.

Found some NOS fire hose. Only 4 will require some cleaning.
Using the remaining bits to learn how to iron them smooth....

1 fire-hose component and 1 Boar- hide strop will be made to fit a Lipshaw strop for Razorfeld. The rest will be hangars.
    Hardware en-route.
    Lord what have I started?
