I've been looking to add a Dremel to my tool collection for years but have never gotten around to it. Which model did you get?
Mine is a 12 month rule. There have been times though when I've subsequently looked for something and it's mysteriously disappeared.Last edited by Thug; 09-26-2015 at 05:05 AM.

Well, it looks like I missed all the action tonight, though you guys turned in early.
Ive been working most the night but with a few distractions.
Went into the work room and came out shocked at the time, I really tried to move fast but the "time warp" happened...
Here is that Torrey that was broken at the toe. I had some ugly horn scales from another blade that was rusted beyond saving, and the horn scales were broken at the pivot so perfect.
Shortened and sanded down, used a wedge from spare box.
Here is a mock up, I will pin it tomorrow so the scales are soaking overnight in neetsfoot oil.“You must unlearn what you have learned.”

That is the coolest frameback shorty I have seen. Nice!
Thin/taper the scales at the pivot?Last edited by sharptonn; 09-26-2015 at 05:19 AM.

Thanked: 4827It looks like when you shaped the tip you used the same profile as the original. Very nice touch.Hard to believe you made that transition in one night.

I'm not sure which one is the best model. Some say the older ones found at pawn shops and such, are better made than the more recent ones..
I would just make sure it has variable speed.
I use my Dremel for a whole lot of things, they are extremely handy. I have to remind myself to be careful of the rotation direction, very risky. Watch it closely and use very sharp focus.

Thanked: 4206Super looking shorty MikeT.
FWIW when I create my scales I always try to have the width at the pivot align or flow into the tang width as well. To my eye it just flows better. You shortened them scales up nicely but they need more curve on the inside on a tighter radius than the original length to really 'pop' with that great short!
Great job so far man!

Thin taper the scales at the pivot? Its late can you rephrase that?
I really wish I was that fast! lol I had started the blade before and just finished everything tonight...
Thanks for the compliments guys! I really like this one, it was something I doubt many would have thought about doing anything with.. a diamond in the rough..

That is excellent work indeed! Not too many of the Torrey framebacks around that I know of. That looks super.
