I've got a couple sets of scales with pics of females and some symbols. I'll have to dig them up. Which blades originally went with them I don't know. But I'll post them and if anybody knows the right blades.. has the right blades... I'm happy to send them out. It would be nice to see them reunited with the proper blades...

I will post up my Novelty tomorrow, I have been needing to clean it and saturate it in silicone. Hone it and shave.
The blade is amazing. Might be looking for another set, MikeT. Seems I have another blade...
Anyone have a NICE Uncle Sam blade?

Hey guys. Outback Mike, glad you're home. I have been looking at the posts I missed & saw the pics (heart) & the second pic shows a lot of blood flowing now so you should be good to go but take it easy. I'm not saying do nothing, just take it slowly for the first few days. I know you can't just sit still though. I couldn't.
I have been busy helping my brother from another mother moving. I have not had a chance to do anything! Then I thought, okay, today I might be able to do something & started taking the chips out of the Barber-sori & my phone rings & it's my brother on his house phone! He couldn't find his cell phone so I started calling it so he could find it. Next thing I know, he's in my driveway so I had to leave again!!!! We got to his house & I called his phone & we found it right away in his bedroom & if he wouldn't have come over here, he would have heard it ringing & would have found it w/o coming over here & I was gone a few hours just because of that. Now he says he needs me to do something for him tomorrow. I love helping people out but I need MY time too!

Ahhh, I'm guessing Uncle Sam is a brand, not just a general term for a USA made razor..

Where the lads are fixing stuff up.
Ok, since a few of the razors that have passed through my hands, and many more that I have seen, have had those black lines parallel to the spine at the location where the blade and scale meet when the razor is closed (stored).
This common occurrence has been explained as a result of the blade or the scales not being dried thoroughly post shave. Here is a post (sorry I can't credit it) from an Arkansas blacksmith group which I thought was pretty interesting: http://blacksmithsofarkansas.org/wp-...S-RED-LONG.pdf
So the black line is the result of lack of oxygen which explains why it frequently occurs at the location mentioned above on vintage razors. Anyway, I think this pdf is a great description of the colors of rust and what they mean.

Little more progress on my GD project. I have everything cut out and pretty close to comming together. Nothing is glued together right now and I need to do a little more grinding/sanding before I get to that point but I am getting closer.
Here are the parts. The treaded rod will go through the handle for strength. The SS srew got cut into a pommel/but-cap.
A little practice to see if I was going to like my plans for the handle.
The handle shaped and textured.
All the pieces rough shaped and sitting in place (not glued yet)
