Thanked: 227Had more of a late lunch today. My folks were over so I made roast leg of lamb with veggies. Which I didn't get a pic of.
Also made...
Garlic and rosemary bread. It was very tasty. Especially covered in butter and dipped in lamb gravy.

Thanked: 227That's a tasty looking piece of meat...
We had a fair amount of leftover lamb. So my wife made stovies. Amd we had it with the other loaf.
Out of curiosity. How common is lamb in the US for eating?

My wife and I eat lamb very often. We both love it. In fact, the first dinner I cooked for her when we were dating was on NYE. I bought two racks of AMERICAN lamb. No offense to those in New Zealand but American lamb is far superior....and priced accordingly. A full leg is a lot of food for the two of us so we usually opt for small loin chops (like little t-bone steaks) or the rack. And while I love to braise the shanks, my wife is less enthusiastic about that preparation. But overall, I don't find that lamb is terribly popular in the US. It sells, at restaurants to some degree but you don't see it sold or consumed in the volumes of other red meat like beef. My enthusiasm and consumption of it is not the norm.

Thanked: 4206Canada too likes lamb. Not to the degree of our beloved bovines but New Zealand racks and chops are always quite popular with my gang. Served with mint sauce a must!

I agree with on rosemary. I don't find the traditional mint to my taste. But Rosemary is a must. Here is one of my contributions from a few months ago. I like a red wine sauce with it as well. In summer I like sautéed potatoes and a gratin of vegetables along side. In winter, white beans.
