My cave, need to mow something fierce, if it would just stop raining long enough to dry out.

For you outline in silver wire are you going to inlay square wire? What gauge?
I intend to inlay the wire. I want to give a try for 0.7 mm wire and see how it turns out. I might have to consider 1 mm diameter wire. Upon results, I'll extend the technique on mother of pearl

Finished work earlier, didn't get stuck in the traffic for too long (usually, one hour is the norm), so I had an hour or so to spare - outlined the contour, I'm still not sure about the notches just yet (whether to extend them fully onto the edge/margin or not), fitted the inlays. Next step will be to define the grooves for wire inlay... the shields are a bit too close to the margin for comfort but shouldn't be a major problem, still have about 2 mm for play but it means the wire can't be thicker than 1 mm

Mouton I have seen much of your work and it's fantastic, that said these shields look thick to me like they are not fitted into the scales but rather sit on them. In the old days the cutler used a parser to make the indentation to fit the shield flush with the scale material.

Good thinking on your part. It's always nice to have a 'Dog House' to live in that has all of the necessities including a toilet while SWMBO cools off from whatever it was you did
