Yup, that's it, the 1x8" blanks.

Heated the tea brine up and gave it a second hour and then dried them off and hit em with an 1800 grit sanding pad.

Interesting translucent area on the back scale seems impervious to the tea stain.
Think I will stop at this shade. Pretty close to my eye.

I soaked some of that same bone in hydrogen peroxide for a bit to get the color nice and even and white. It worked fairly well. It is an old taxidermist trick for bleaching skulls.

you mean soak them in peroxide now to even out the shading? Think it would haze over that spotting on the B scale? What percentage did you use Shaun?
No harm in trying as I would like it softer and more evenly spread, if possible for a natural product.

I keep scrolling up & looking again. They look great the way they are but yeah if you could soak 'em in peroxide just a little, it might neutralize it to look more natural.

The bones are looking great Mike! I'm surprised at the variation within each blank. At any point did you see the variation before staining? By looking at your photos, the scale on the left, post staining, has a section in the bottom that looks 'clear' and would rival ivory. Cool process

I am not sure how the peroxide will react which the tea stain. I did use regular over the counter household peroxide. I think it may have been about a 36 hour soak. It requires me a little more toying with how it goes to get it dialed in. I wish there was different % of peroxide available here. Our main transportation of goods has a BC Ferries link to the mainland and everything is dangerous cargo. There are a lot of things we can't even order around here. I am wondering how deep that penetrated. There was also a mention in a thread that I cannot find about cooking the bone scales in oil that gave the entire scale that translucent look. I think I need to look more for that thread.
I think they are looking pretty slick. The color in the pictures looks very close. I expect to see it all pinned up soon, are you going to chamfer the holes and go sans collars?

I ordered me some of this bone when I placed the order for the honey coloured horn.
The plan is to use it for the wedge,
