Thanked: 4207And nice works on those molds Roy! Your brass idea has some good possibilities of success, bronze might work better as it’s more self lubricatiing but dunno if it’s as easy to get. Brass should still work swimmingly.
Nice smelting pot ya got there buddy.."Depression is just anger,, without the enthusiasm."

I figure that I can use some Vaseline to lube the brass so it doesn't stick to the plaster. I'm also thinking about slightly tapering the edges--just a bit to make removing not only the original brass but the lead castings easy.
There should be plenty of area to work with even with the slight taper.
The smelting pot is available from 'LEE Reloading'. It was one of those gifts for no reason/he just wanted to try casting his own bullets. Our house is as Neil left it- an Aladdins cave of 'stuff'.

Very cool Roy.
I drilled out some handles and got a few synthetic knots pushed into the holes. Not glued yet as I need to work a bit more on the handles to get them cleaned up more. 2 Boss Knots and one Tuxedo knot.
Then I just finished hand sanding and polishing these two blades. Still working on the finish of Tru-Oil on the scales for them.
I don't want to lose the etch on the last one so I'm afraid that's about the best it will be for cleaning up. Lots of dark spots. It's just Sharpening, right?

Scales...
This scale holder I made sure works out nice. I've had to clean the tips of the pins sticking thru the scales once, but I can see this being used for many many sets. Thanks for the idea Roy.It's just Sharpening, right?

I have 6 in the "needs honed cup". Hoping to get to them today if the wife can hold off on the honey-do list for the day. As ive mentioned in the past, I made a spread sheet of all my razors to help keep track. I recently started at the top of the list and am working my way thru it, shaving with each one to see what needs honed again now that i have a much better understanding of what im doing when it comes to honing.
Im finding 4 out of 5 are good.
This will take me close to 5 months to go thru now that im not shaving every day, but the plan is to know for a fact that every razor IS shave ready and not just maybe.
And this will give me a g9od opertunity to learn the natural stones i have. Or at least try again. It's just Sharpening, right?
